That would suggest that forts are decent for age 3.Ģ Mortars can take a Fort down in less than a minute. It would take 4 cannons to destroy a fort and only one or two cannons would survive. I once tested 3 cannons vs a Fort (before the upgrade).

With AOE 3 it seems to me that Ensemble went to the other extreme.

In AOK Forts were strong and you could have many of them. Maybe Ens thought this was too much of an advantage, but I thought it was a great strategy when you were whoopin someone. In AOE II, Castles where great since they gave you lots of defense if you had several of them around your town, plus, as you move in you could build more along the way, increasing your hold on new territory.

In the patch they should have been given something to set them further apart from everything else, especially since most people can only get one of them. In most of the games I've played in the Forts haven't had much of an impact on the game. With Forts, you can build a variety of units, but none are unique to the Fort.

They had good defense, as do Forts, but they came with the added bonus of being able to produce several unique units that nowhere else could build. Harking back to AOE II, when you could build Castles, as many as you wanted. I seems that the Fort should have been made a little more imposing. Maybe I am missing something, but to me Forts just aren't all that they should be.
